1956

Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC) is founded
PDC Develops First Single-Piece Wristband

PDC co-founder Dr. Walter W. Mosher was 22 years old and focused on his engineering studies at UCLA when he started Precision Dynamics Corporation with three investors in 1956. The company developed what was then a revolutionary innovation: a single-piece wristband, no parts, no tools necessary. It sold immediately and became the system of choice for hospitals worldwide.

With steady growth, PDC blazed new trails and set new standards, developing identification solutions for multiple markets, including healthcare, entertainment/recreation, law enforcement, and more. Today, PDC provides more wristbands to the healthcare market than all competitors combined.

1972

PDC Adds Visa Band® Product Line for Entertainment & Recreation Markets

In 1972 PDC expands its product offering to address the identification and crowd control needs for entertainment & recreation markets. Visa Band quickly becomes the market leader, serving thousands of customers worldwide. Visa Band is also the preferred choice of the world’s top venues, including the Super Bowl, the Summer Olympics, and Wimbledon.

1976

PDC Launches Clincher®, the first Inmate ID Wristband System

PDC becomes the first company to provide Inmate ID Solutions for law enforcement and correctional facilities in 1976. Today, Clincher covers virtually the entire inmate ID market, helping facilities identify and track inmate population.

1984

PDC Develops First Bar Code Wristband System

Setting the standards in Automatic Wristband ID, PDC creates the first bar code wristband system. Using computer automation, PDC bar code bands minimize medical errors while maximizing economic efficiencies for nursing and medical staff. More hospitals choose PDC bar code bands than any other system in the world.

1995

PDC Becomes ISO 9001 Certified

In 1995, PDC becomes the first wristband identification company to earn the coveted ISO-9001 (International Standards Organization) certification at our main facility in San Fernando, CA.

1997

PDC Purchases Assets of Mark-Clark and Secur-Ticket divisions of M-C Industries

PDC’s purchase of the assets of the Mark-Clark and Secur-Ticket divisions of M-C Industries expands the company’s product offering in healthcare and entertainment/recreation markets. Based in Topeka, Kansas, M-C Industries was established in 1957.

2000

PDC Launches Smart Band® Radio Frequency ID (RFID) Wristband System

As the next step in wristband identification after bar coding, PDC develops the revolutionary Smart Band® RFID System. The system contains a microchip and antenna, which allows information to be written and retrieved by RFID scanners. Representing the new wave of the future in positive identification, Smart Band® provides maximum accuracy, security, and streamlined operations.

2003

PDC Expands to Mexico

PDC expands internationally and opens a 50,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Mexico, representing the company’s continued growth.

2004

European Headquarters Established

PDC establishes its first European Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium with the acquisition of its long-time distributor MFR Europe, now PDC Europe.

2005

Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific Partnership

PDC partners with Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific to help implement RFID wristband solutions in the Asia Pacific healthcare market.

2006

PDC Acquires ID Product Lines from Hollister, Inc.

Hollister Ident-A-Band® hospital wristband and WrisTicket® entertainment wristband product lines purchased by PDC.

2008

Precision Dynamics Corporation Acquires TimeMed Labeling Systems, Inc.

Precision Dynamics Corporation acquires TimeMed Labeling Systems, a national producer of specialty healthcare labels, to create the industry’s leading provider of patient safety identification solutions.

2011

Precision Dynamics Corporation merges with The St. John Companies, Inc.

Precision Dynamics Corporation merges with The St. John Companies Inc. to create the world’s leading provider of patient safety identification and healthcare labeling solutions. St. John’s manufacturing facility in Tijuana is added to the company’s world-class manufacturing operations.

2012

Precision Dynamics Corporation Become IS0 9008:2008 Compliant

2012

Brady Corporation Acquires Precision Dynamics Corporation

Brady Corporation (NYSE:BRC) (“Brady”), a world leader in identification solutions, announced today that it has acquired Precision Dynamics Corporation (“PDC”) from Water Street Healthcare Partners, a strategic private equity firm focused exclusively on the healthcare industry, in a cash transaction for $300 million, subject to customary working capital and post-close adjustments. PDC, with annual sales of approximately $173 million, is a leader in identification products primarily for the healthcare market, specializing in patient wristbands, specialty labels and identification systems used in hospitals to reduce medical errors and integrate and share patient data.

2014

IDenticard launches Rack-Armor™ Server Protection

Patented, innovative, award-winning data center security solution provides control over physical data centers, including monitoring who opens server doors, and remotely locking or unlocking server cabinet doors.

2015

PDC Establishes New Manufacturing Plant in Mexico

State-of-the-art manufacturing facility with 1M square feet of floor space to house the company’s expanding manufacturing capabilities.

2016

PDC Launches Ident-Alert® Equipment Tags Line

Ident-Alert® Tray and Scope Tags help central sterile processing personnel properly identify, classify, and track trays, scopes, and surgical instruments throughout the sterilization process to help improve workflow efficiency.

2017

PDC Expands Manufacturing to Brazil

To support faster production and distribution in South America, PDC expanded their manufacturing footprint by adding a new site in Brazil.

2018

PDC & IDenticard Join to Form PDC IDenticard

For the past several years, Brady Corporation has been managing two closely related identification solutions businesses under individual brand names: PDC and IDenticard. Effective September 10, 2018, these companies will be unified as one business, operating as PDC IDenticard.

PDC Launches Line of Direct Thermal Printers

PDC now offers several new thermal printers to meet all of your patient identification needs with a single solution from the company that 90% of US hospitals choose. PDC Patient ID Solutions allow providers to accurately match each patient to the correct medical record, medications, specimens, and procedures at every stage of care with a single solution that includes wristbands, labels—and now—printers.

2020

PDC Introduces React Mobile®

PDC now offers React Mobile®, a precise, location-based panic button alert system to healthcare and education markets. Through its parent company, Brady Corporation, PDC entered a strategic partnership with React Mobile, an employee safety technology company. This partnership allows PDC to bring the React Mobile® platform to their healthcare and education industry customers for a rapid emergency response solution.
